Plastic Bob

Before I start rambling on, I thought I'd better show you my all done and dusted Patchy Cushions.

I love the fabrics in these so much. I could sit and look and then look some more just to get my happy fix for the day. I'll be popping these ones in my etsy shop in the next few days, but I'll definately be making some for us too.

On Saturday Miss Rosey and I set off to try out a new market. She's never come with me before and was really looking forward to it.

The church hall looked great when we arrived, all decked out with bunting. There were a few stalls that caught my eye too for a spot of shopping later on.

Through the day I caught up with a few friends who stopped by and chatted with a few more lovely people who read this here stuff and know me from Pick 'n' Mix Makers Market.

One very lovely lady bought these tasty cupcakes for Rosey and I as she enjoys reading Bobo Bun so much. Thanks so much Patricia, we really enjoyed munching them, Rosey picked the windmill one.

I sold a few bits, but on the whole it was a slow day. I wasn't disappointed though as I hadn't gone with any expectations and I had a lovely day chatting with Rosey and meeting other lovely people. I'm sure this sounds a bit odd as from a selling point of view the whole reason I bother going to markets is to make a profit. Well I wanted to see what it was all about and as the pitches were so reasonable I knew it was an ok gamble to go and try it out.

I've also had the necessary kick up the bum to get making new stock, so now I just need another kick to get me adding it to my etsy store tommorow.

We did make sure we came home with a few goodies too. There were a couple of stalls selling some kitsch bits and bobs that really appealed to me. I'm annoyed I didn't get the carousel horse ring - ho hum, but I did get Bob the Elephant (for me), the musical cat for Miss Rosey and ...

Miss Rosey chose the wee white bear for Little Bun.

I added a few buttons and plastic stuff to my bag too. I'm not sure what I'll do with them, but I think it'll involve a bit of glue.

Our last buys were these Japanese notebooks. One for each of us.

Next Saturday there'll be the Golden Triangle Makers Market in the same hall. A friend of mine has a stall there so we'll pop along and check it out as I think it'll be a good one.

Thanks Lily, Heather and Annie (and anyone else if I've forgotten you) for your technical advice. I've not had a chance to give it a go, but I will very soon so fingers crossed it works.

Life

Being very mad keen on all things to do with animals and having a would be shepherdess in our family, we were first in the yard at the agricultural college's Lambing Day on Saturday.

There's a dreadful disease called Schmallenberg Virus affecting a lot of flocks at the moment. Thankfully none of the sheep here have been affected by it so all the lambs born  so far have been healthy and well.

To stop awhile and watch the antics of the lambs getting used to their gangly bodies was the perfect start to our day.

Despite many heavily pregnant ewe's waiting to give birth, we weren't lucky enough to see a lamb born this time.

Little Bun did get a cuddle with a three day old triplet though. This one's being bottle fed as ewe's can only feed two lambs.

In the hospital nursery we saw a very demanding lamb jumping and pounding on his mother's back. Desperate for her to stand so he could feed again. How ever much she jiggled he managed to cling on.

Sunday has been all rainy and pretty grim. As we all fancied a home day it was the perfect weather. The Bun's played all day and I got a small bit of stitching done.

I'd bought some fabulous zingy towelling from Maartje before christmas. Only a small amount, but just enough to make a handtowel and it's taken me months to finally make it.

I chopped the shapes to sew another tunic, this time from Amy Butler's Chinese Lanterns. Also I'm so pleased that stinky fabric is no longer stinky so I kept it by my side so I could muse upon it's possibilties.

I love my wee handtowel with it's pink pom pom fringe, so much more exciting than our Aga towel.

The rest of the day was a cosy blur of cake making, cake eating and knitting.

As much as I enjoy a rainy day cosying up inside, I'd like the sun back again tommorow please.

Skipping into May

The week's whizzed by, sandwiched at each end by two fabulous long weekends. The sun has come back for another visit which has made it even better. Blue toes and sandals have been out for an airing again.

There's been no time this week for coming up with colourful makes so nothing to show you I'm afraid. All my thought has gone into finishing up the 10 week course I've planned and written. Fourteen hours a week I'll be teaching and trying to inspire 16-18 year olds, starting on Tuesday.

Friends coming for afternoon tea yesterday inspired me to whizz up a colourful cake of sparkly sugar stars and fruit.  All eaten in one sitting.

Other visitors have been the new ducklings. Their mum brought them over twice this week on their long walk back to the village pond. They came right to the door and waited for us to go out and feed them.

Today was one of those perfect days when you just feel really good inside. We went for a really long walk by the river and then ended up in a field eating cake and watching really bizarre people doing a dog agility show. It was perfect entertainment, especially the dog who looked like he was wearing his owners wig.

One more day of fun and then it's back to all the usual normal stuff and short weekends again. How will we cope with the week being longer than the weekends I wonder?

Running to the sea

I had an interview this afternoon. I called Mr Bun on the way home and halfway through our chat he suddenly yelled 'the b's gone blue'. Hurray - broadband decided to come and visit us again. When this internet thingy got invented I couldn't see the point. It was just so sloooww. Now it's part of everyday. Work, banking and bloggy fun. How I've missed it all.

The day before the broadband died we went on a wee trip to the sea. Just for the day, we inhaled so much sea air we came back lightheaded and slept like tops that night.

We always pack a picnic when we go on our adventures. Great excuse to use my lovely Rob Ryan drinky thing.

First stop when we arrived was the daft delights of the pier. We rode in a submarine, had our fortunes told and met a creepy pair of medics.

After all that sea air we were sleepy and seriously hungry when we got home.  We had a feast of smartie cake and cheesy scones. A lovely end to a half-term week before all the busyness of the week that just was.

Thanks for your messages while I was away and hello to the new followers who have popped in. Good to see you.
